By DominicSt. Thomas Stars Strengthen the Crease With Addition of Goaltender William Camputaro
St. Thomas, ON The St. Thomas Stars have added significant talent and size between the pipes with the signing of 6'6" goaltender William Camputaro, who joins the organization after appearing in 19 games last season with the St. Michael’s Buzzers of the Ontario Junior Hockey League (OJHL). The Toronto-born netminder made an immediate impression in his GOJHL debut, posting a stellar .977 save percentage and a 1.05 goals-against average in 57 minutes of action.
Despite the Stars coming up short in the matchup, Camputaro’s performance was a bright spot calm, composed, and technically polished. He turned aside nearly every shot he faced, displaying the confidence and structure of a goaltender well ahead of his age.
His size is obviously a major asset, but it’s his patience and reads that really stood out. You can tell he’s played meaningful minutes in the OJHL. He looked comfortable from his very first shift.”
Camputaro’s OJHL numbers underline his potential. In 19 appearances, he recorded a 2.76 GAA and a .903 save percentage, strong marks for a young goaltender facing older, faster competition. Those reps helped develop the technical habits and mental steadiness that translated seamlessly into the GOHL.
At 212 pounds, Camputaro uses his frame effectively, staying tall in the crease, sealing posts quickly, and challenging shooters with confidence. His ability to track pucks through traffic and limit rebounds gives the Stars a stabilizing presence at a key position.
For Camputaro, joining St. Thomas represents both an opportunity and a fresh chapter in his junior career.
The young netminder is also committed to the University of Nebraska Omaha for the 2027–28 NCAA season, signaling the long term belief in his upside from college programs. A strong GOJHL campaign could further elevate his stock and position him as one of the league’s most promising young goalies.
With his debut now behind him, the Stars look forward to what Camputaro can bring as the season continues. His combination of size, skill, and experience makes him one of the most intriguing additions to the roster this year.
